How entrepreneurial ecosystem embeddedness reduces institutional bottlenecks faced by women refugees' social entrepreneurs in France

Résumé

Refugee entrepreneurship has become a grand challenge: it aims at opening up opportunities in entrepreneurship but remains unachieved. This article explores women refugee social entrepreneurs’ (WRSE) ecosystem embeddedness and how it reduces institutional barriers. We draw on the mixed embeddedness framework and the ecosystem social perspective to sustainable ecosystems. We use a qualitative research based on 46 interviews with women refugee social entrepreneurs and service providers. We highlight the degree of nestedness of formal institutions at regional levels. We propose the concept of sustainable inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem and present an integrative model acting as a pathway towards achieving inclusive ecosystems. Keywords Refugee social entrepreneurship, embeddedness, ecosystems, Necessity entrepreneurship, Inclusive entrepreneurship.
